Auto Auctions – Buying Repossessed Vehicles

Government auctions of repossessed cars, trucks, SUVs etc are a much cheaper way to buy used vehicles. Repossessed trucks, SUVs, Cars, etc are sold at auctions much less than original price, around 40 to 70% less!

The trucks, SUVs, etc that are now under the control of the government are there because their previous owners were either involved in criminal events or their money was illegally owned. When the cars are first repossessed a public garage houses them until the cases have been settled. Once the case is over, if the previous owner loses, the vehicle is then sent to auction.

Mainly the government turns them over to private auction houses to sell the vehicles for them. Anyone interested in buying one of the vehicles can now do so from one of these auctions.

Unfortunately trying to find these auctions on the web can prove hard. The police will not simply give you a list of all the places of the seized cars. You would need to do some research and make visits to the auction houses if you are not wanting to use an online searching guide.

Usually the auction houses do not advertise for these repossessed cars so you would have to take out your yellow pages directory and check for their numbers. Call the numbers you get and ask them which ones handle the sales of any seized vehicles.

Once you find out which ones do, take the time to visit their office.

At their office look through the listings of government auctions of the repossessed cars. That way you can shorten the list to the vehicles that you are wanting to take a look at. Make it a point to get everything you can out of your first visit.

Ask them what kinds of documents you will require presenting. Also, how much cash you will need if you do win a bid plus any specifics like the dates and times of auctions. Before attending an auction to actually bid on a car its a good idea to go as an observer first if you can.

It would be a good idea to watch at least one auction before bidding yourself to give you an idea of the bidding process.

Finally, restraint is a good thing to practice. Auctions especially can have a highly competitive mood, creating a lot of adrenaline within participants. Dont let the fever take you, if the price goes above your budget stop there, you can always bid on another vehicle!

If you take a look at our site you can see a link to a guide with all US auctions available of seized cars including all auction times and dates.

The auctions available are both online and offline.
